METALWORKING CAPABILITIES

By way of the upstream and downstream capabilities of its JV Partners, NAF is able to provide a fully integrated solution to our customers.

We start with ladle refined, vacuum degassed, bottom poured ingots weighing up to 170 tons. Then downstream of the press are the capabilities of its JV Partners providing complete horizontal and vertical heat treating capability, mechanical and Level III NDE, and extensive rough and finish machining.

Steelmaking

NAF offers a wide range of ingots. Our steel cleanliness rivals that achieved only through re-melted refining processes such as ESR and VAR.

Capabilities

Ultra High Power Electric Arc Furnace with EBT, Ladle Refining Units, Custom Alloy Delivery, Ladle Vacuum Degassing.

Forging

Capable of producing hollows, shafts, rings, blocks, disks, billets and bars … NAF’s open-die forging process delivers considerable latitude in product.

Capabilities

Our 10,120 ton press and a 4,500 ton press forge over 100,000 ingot tons per year and are capable of producing parts weighing up to 270,000 lbs.

Heat Treatment

Utilizing state-of-the-art software technology, heat treating furnaces and equipment, NAF reliably delivers on the most demanding mechanical properties.

Capabilities

Vertical and horizontal furnaces with capabilities to heat treat parts weighing up to 88,000 lbs., 177 in. diameter, or 75 ft. in length.

Testing

NAF has a degreed metallurgical team with over 150 years of combined experience at our disposal, so we’re no stranger to assembling and executing strict process plans.

Capabilities

NAF has the ability to perform chemical, mechanical, non-destructive and dimensional inspection as per our customer's requirements.

Machining

Utilizing a combination of CNC and manual machining centers, NAF has the capabilities and experience to handle all your technical and complex manufacturing challenges.

Capabilities

Horizontal, vertical and boring lathes capable of machining lengths up to 75 ft. as well as a variety of finish machining operations.
